I actually figured it out a while ago. Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive. Here’s the kicker and million dollar questions: Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
What can I do to resolve this annoying problem? Vince Tom: I finally backed up the iPad to the laptop and deleted everything on the iPad and restored from back up. That cured the problem. Tried to get on site, and got an error message saying; “The folder ITunes is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder.
Hi lvdmerwe! I have two articles here for you that should be able to help you troubleshoot this issue further: Trouble adding music to iTunes library or importing audio CD http: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization http: After clicking sync it attempts to do so, it gets to the backing up stage, then soon as this completes i get the following 2 errors right after eachother.
I went to open the file and it won’t execute, I small box keeps popping up with this message: I have tried to change the permission but nothing happens. Can anyone please give help me or give me some advise how I can fix this problem.
Hoping there’s another possible fix. Thanks in advance. When I setup my Mac I created a shared user area to contain my ITunes library so that I could share it with another user logged onto my Mac. However the error above gives me the impression that the library file is locked I’ve checked and it does not seem to be locked under the “get info” fie information. Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?
You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter. That’s also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned. Read the part about changing permissions on the iTunes folder in: Use the Change Permissions When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don’t have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects. Repeat with the media folder if it isn’t stored inside the main iTunes folder. The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn’t too different in Windows 8. Any clue? In my case its a new computer the old one was stolen and the time machine disk did not work for a restore but did for copying the info to the new mac Maybe you are looking for Recovering broken filesystems Before I ask my question, here’s what the setup involved is: I had run out of space, so I bought 2 more 2TB hard drives.
